In June 1965, Gemini IV launched atop a Titan II on a four day mission in low Earth orbit. Astronauts James McDivitt and Edward H. White, II circled the Earth 66 times in four days, making it the first US flight to approach the five-day flight. Ed White became the first American astronaut to perform a space walk.
